What is the expiration date of your soups? How can I read the can codes?
Each can of Wolfgang Puck Soup is stamped on the lid with a Product Code. This code includes information such as the date the soup was made, the factory line and shift, and USDA information. Retorted can goods, like Wolfgang Puck Soup, are not printed with an expiration date because they virtually have unlimited shelf life. If the can remains undamaged the product should be safe for consumption for several years, but the color and flavor may be affected SLIGHTLY after approximately three years, so we recommend that you consume our soup when it is at its best.
Heres an easy way to determine when the soup was manufactured. If you have a code (from the bottom lid) that looks like this, for example:
663C2 1204
169A2 EST P18166
The number 663 is the variety. The letter C is the particular plant and the 2 is for year 2002 (a 3 indicates 2003, a 4 indicates 2004, etc.). The next four digits equal military time. The 169 indicates the day produced per the Julian Calendar (January 1st being 001). The A represents the factory shift -- A being first shift. EST P18166 is the code for a USDA inspected poultry product and this factory's USDA number. So this particular can was made on June 18, 2002 (the 169th day of the year in 2002).
ALL SOUP PRODUCTION THAT STARTED 10/1/07 WILL HAVE A BEST USED BY NOTATION ON THE CAN.

I can no longer find my favorite varieties of Wolfgang Puck Soups. What can I do?
Grocery store chains and distributors decide how many and which varieties they carry. Rarely, maybe once a year, they may increase the number or replace existing varieties with different ones. You can always ask the manager of your local store to order a case for you or to restock our brand. And we are available online at www.foodlocker.com or Amazon.com.
I have two different cans of the same variety of Wolfgang Puck Soups but they have different nutritional information. How can this be?
Neither label is wrong. The difference results from our efforts to constantly improve our product. When we make quality changes, we change our labels in accordance with applicable federal regulations.
